Their Only Daughter Weds

The marriage of Miss Margaret Ann Harrison, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs L. F. Harrison, of 48 Dryden Road, Mexborough, to Mr. John Christopher Ford, son of Mr. and Mrs C. Ford of 122 Doncaster Road, Mexborough, took place at Mexborough Parish Church on Monday week.

The Rev. James Metcalfe officiated at the choral service and the organist was Mr. John Stuart. The bride, given away by her father, wore a gown of white crepe trimmed with Guipure lace, matching train, a shoulder length veil held with a flowered coronet and carried a bouquet of pink roses and white freesia. The bridesmaids were Judith Ann Ford, Pauleen Denise Wales, Margaret Young and Sheila Elaine Ferrar and they wore full-length dress of sparkle crepe, two in Nevron rose and two in starfish pink with matching ribbon sashes and velvet headdresses and carried Victorian posies of bridal carnation and freesia, edged with lace.

The best man was Mr. Colin R. Wilmot, the groomsman Mr. Andrew C. Clarke and the ushers were David Goyland and Martin Wilkes.  The server was Mr. H. Scholey. The bride’s mother wore a chocolate brown worsted suit with dyed squirrel collar and a matching hat with beige accessories and carried a spray of pink roses and white freesia, while the ‘grooms mother chose an aquamarine dress and jacket of wool boucle with a petal hat to tone and cream accessories and carried a spray of pink roses and white freesia.

A reception lunch for relatives was held at the Weston Club, Marr, and a buffet for friends was held at the New Masons Arms, Mexborough.

For their honeymoon the couple are touring the North. The bride travelled in a coffee and cream dress and coat in worsted wool with cream accessories. The ‘groom, a server at the Parish Church, works at Rotherham Technical College and the couple received gifts from his colleagues and from Messrs. C. P. and D Tiptaft, Mr. Greenshields and staff of the Mexborough Investment Company, employers of the bride.
