Wedding: Sapper George Milford (Canvey Island) and Miss M Green (Mexborough)
Miss May Green, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. F. Green, of 22, Highwoods Road, Roman Terrace, Mexborough, was married at Swinton Parish Church to Sapper George Milford, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. E. R. H. Milford, of 5, Atherstone Road, Canvey Island, Essex.
The bride was given away by her father and wore a gown of white satin trimmed with diamante with a veil and wreath of orange blossom. She carried red carnations and fern. Bridesmaids were Misses Dorothy Green, Joyce Lambert, Sheila Firth, and Dorothy Watts in pink taffeta with matching veils and coronets, and Miss Dorothy Green and Muriel Green in blue taffeta with matching shoulder veils and coronets. They carried bronze chrysanthemums and their gifts from the bridegroom were flower brooches.
The bridegroom’s brother L.A/c Edwin Milford, R.A.F., was best man and the groomsman was Sergt. Bill Miles R.E. The honeymoon was spent at Canvey Island, Essex.
The bride, who is a hairdresser in Mexboro’ is employed by Messrs. Baker and Bessemer. Among gifts were a tablecloth, teaspoons and a set of carvers from her workmates.
