Thompson—Cowles.

Miss Lily Cowles, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. Cowles, 58, Harlington Road, Mexborough, was married to Mr. Edward Thompson, second son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Thompson. 14, Daylands Avenue. Conisborough, at Conisborough Parish Church on Saturday, the Rev. W. J. T. Pascoe officiating.

The bride was given away by her father and wore white satin with headdress to match, and carried sweet peas. The maids, Misses Florence and Blanche Cowles wore green and pink floral georgette respectively. The bride’s mother wore black floral georgette, and the bridegroom’s mother green floral georgette.

The best man was Mr. J. Cooper, and the groomsmen Messrs. Thompson and Cowles.

A reception was held in the Church Hall and over a hundred guests were received. Mr. and Mrs. Cowles, who received numerous gifts, afterwards left for Llandudno. The bridegroom had been superintendent of the Parish Church Sunday School for some years and was a member of the Church Council and a sidesman. He is in possession of both under-manager’s and manager’s colliery certificates.

The bride was employed at the British Westphalite Works, Denaby, for thirteen years. Presents included those from Parish Church Sunday School Teachers. Scholars, and employees of the British Westphalite Works.
