A Mexborough Ceremony

The marriage of Miss Patricia Ann Cooke, daughter of Mr, and Mrs, W. R. Cooke of 8, Oak Road, Mexborough, to Mr. Brian Southwick, son of 11 Mr. and Mrs. W. Brecklands, Southwick, of 5, Rotherham, took place at Mexborough Parish church.

The Rev. J. Metcalfe (Vicar) officiated and the organist was Mr. Fletcher.

Given away by her father, the bride wore a full length gown of lace and her short veil was held in place by a head-dress of white roses. She carried apricot roses and lilies of the valley.

She was attended by Miss Brenda Downs and Miss Wendy Seller, who wore lemon nylon, and by Miss Shirley Gedney, dressed in lilac nylon. They carried sweet peas and anemones. Best man was Mr. Norman Loasby, and the groomsman was Mr. Paul Cooke.

The bride’s mother wore a dress and jacket of donkey brown shantung silk with pale blue accessories and the bridegroom’s mother had chosen a navy and white ensemble with matching accessories.

A reception was held at the Masonic Hall, Swinton, and the honeymoon was spent at Scats-borough. The bride travelling in a royal blue suit with beige accessories. The bride received a Poole coffee set from her colleagues at Goldthorpe Junior Girl’s School and a tray from pupils. The bride and groom received chimes from Wigfall’s
