Wedding – Constance & Ashton

At Mexborough Parish Church on Saturday, Miss Lilian Constance only daughter of Column Officer L. Heeson and Mrs. Heeson, 2, Cowper Road, Mexborough, was married to Driver Harry Ashton, second son of the late Mr. and Mrs. G. Ashton 88, Dolcliffe Road, Mexborough.

The bride was given away by her father and wore a white satin gown with embroidered sleeves and yoke, and veil and wreath to tone. She was presented with two horseshoes by her nephew and niece and carried pink carnations. Bridesmaids. Misses Joan Rawson and Irene Carr, were dressed in blue figured, and mauve satin; and Misses Carol Stocks and Dorothy Axe, wore pale blue satin. All wore head-dresses to tone and carried yellow chrysanthemums.

Best man was Leading Fireman W. Pottrill and Mr. D. Heeson (brother of bride) was groomsman.

The bride is a member of the local N.F.S. and received a Pyrex dish and silver stand from colleagues and the bride and bridegroom received a case of cutlery from the bridegroom’s late employer.
