Wedding – Chesters & Stokes
The wedding took place last Thursday at St. Laurence’s Church, Eastcote, Middlesex, of Sgt. (A.C.) Fred Stokes (R.A.), eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Mrs. E. Stokes of West Bromwich and L/Wren Phyllis Chesters, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. Chesters of Mexborough.
The service was choral. The bride wore white satin and veil with coronet of orange blossoms and carried deep red carnations and white heather. Miss Daphne Driver (W.R.N.S.) was chief bridesmaid and also in attendance was Miss Ellen Reid (W.R.N.S.) both of whom wore lavender dresses with veils to match and carried seabious pink carnations and roses. The bride wore a gold chain and a cross, gift of the bridegroom. Gifts by the bridegroom to the bridesmaids were silver crosses and chains. Sgt. (A.C.) “Topper” Brown of Barnsley was best man. The bride’s gift to the bridegroom was a gold signet ring.
A guard of honour was formed by sergeants and Wrens, colleagues of the bride and bridegroom, at the church.
