Miss Olwyn Noreen Cawood, third daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. Cawood, 34, Washington Street, Mexborough, was married on Saturday at Mexborough Parish Church to L/Cpl. Lionel Smith, second son of Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Smith, 11, Kirby Street, Mexoorough.

Mr. L. Fletcher was organist.

Given away by her father, the bride wore a gown of old ivory satin with a veil and wreath of orange blossom. She carried red carnations, and attending her were Miss Edna Cawood. Miss Barbara Gascuigne, Miss Dorothy Smith, Miss Dorothy Wray, Miss Jean Cawood and Miss Nancy Wray, all wearing white figured satin dresses with red sashes and silver head-dresses.

A page, Terence Marrow, wore white satin. A/c. H. Cawood was best man, and groomsman was Mr. F. Gascoigne. The bridegroom was a professional footballer for Arsenal F.C. before joining up. Among the wedding gifts were an eiderdown, fruit spoons and forks, and a tea service from the bride’s colleagues on the L.N.E.R. Railway.
