Star Green ‘un – Saturday 07 June 1919
To-Day’s Boxing.
Contests at Mexbro’.
Billy O’Brien shut down his Boxing Programme at the Empire Theatre, Mexboro’, this afternoon after two local bouts had been decided.
The principals in the big fly-weight fight, Jimmy Buck, of Castlcford, and Curly Kenyon, of Wigan, declined to go for the money available, the attendance being small, no doubt owing to the torrid weather.
Young Brum, of Mexboro’, lost to Baden Walker, of Edlington in the fifth round on foul, after winning all the way. Billy Crummack, Goldthorpe, beat Dan Demaine, of Bentley, in six rounds on points.
“Iron” Hague was referee.
