The First Sod.

Cutting the first sod on the contract for laying pipes to convey the Ludwell water supply to Mexborough.

This ceremony was performed on Monday at noon by Councillor F. Harrison, chairman of the Mexborough Water Committee (centre). On the left, Mr. J. B. Feltham, waterworks engineer to the Mexborough Urban District Council.

On the right, Mr. S. Porter, the contractor for the scheme.
