Mexborough and Swinton Times December 28, 1928

Mexboro’s handsome new palace of dancing opened last week-end. This beautiful pillared hall, with its tasteful decorations, elaborate lighting effects, and bang up-to-date spring floor, is now in regular use and among the permanent features of entertainment to be provided there.

Mr. John Woffinden, the proprietor, has arranged for a weekly Monday night dance, starting on 7th January, 7-30 to 11 p.m.; and each Saturday a popular dance at one shilling, 7-30 to midnight.

Special events will be arranged from time to time, and one of these of particular note is a New Year’s Eve Ball, 8 p.m. to 2 a.m.; tickets 2/6 each. This is by invitation only. On Tuesday (New Year’s Day), a dance will be held from 7-30 to 12 p.m.; tickets 1/6 each, double ticket 2/6.

A competent orchestra, the Empress Sextet has been engaged, and will play the latest and most popular dances.
