The Alleged Highway Robbery

The three miners, George Holt and Harry Sowden, Stainforth. and Charles Wm. Reed, of Denaby, charged with highway robbery with violence, and stealing £40 in treasury notes from Mr. Samuel Spencer, retired bookmaker, Mexbro’ on August 8, were, at the Doncaster West Riding Court, Saturday, committed for trial at the Assizes, and admitted to bail.

The case occupied two days, the defence being all alibi, and 26 witnesses were summoned on their behalf.
