Technical College Teacher

Mr B Wilson of 9 Ruskin Ave, Mexborough, who has been a member of the staff of the Schofield Technical College, and the old technical Institute for 17 years has been appointed head of the Mining Department, at  the Municipal Technical College, St Helens Lancashire. He takes up his new duties in September.

Mr. Wilson has been in charge of the Mining Dept. at Schofield Technical College since the promotion of Mr. M. Clark as Principal the college in 1928.

Trained at Wigan Mining and Technical College where he graduated with an external B.Sc. degree in Mining, Mr Wilson also gained a First Class diploma in mining with distinction of Wigan Mining and Technical College.

He is a member of the Institute of Mining Engineers and the National Association of Colliery Managers, and holds a first class Colliery manager’s certificate.

Although seriously wounded in the first World War Mr. Wilson returned to Colliery work in spite of disability, and continued until his appointment as a teacher of mining in 1930.

His main sporting interest is golf, and he was secretary of Hickleton Golf Club for two or three years before the war. He was also business manager of Mexborough Amateur Operatic Society for a time,
