Frank Worth
AT the beginning of every football season one name is remembered before the rest. Frank Worth has always been keen on football, and it would be hard to find a more devoted servant of the game than popular Frank.
A friend of young and old alike. Frank is always to be seen near a football ground on Saturday afternoon.
Sometimes he is the man with the whistle, at other times he merely gives advice to the youngsters. For Frank is now following in the footsteps of father Ben as competition secretary of Mexborough Football Association. A lot of his work is done at home, poring over his books, this but Frank is a qualified referee, and is always ready to take charge of a game.
Mexborough Montagu Cup would not be the same without him, for he is secretary, and for the past 25 years. one of the two Worths have held that position. Frank is also a trustee of the Referees’ Association. His home is at 86, Bridge Street, Swinton. Mrs. Worth has only one thing to say about it all: “You don’t know how much I wish football had never been invented,” for with Frank’s books, and gear, housekeeping must be a little difficult.
Never mind, Mrs. Worth, It’s all in a good cause.Cooke
