“South Yorkshire Times ” in Egypt is being enjoyed (as it is each week) by Private Roy Clarke (front right), second son of Mr an4 Mrs John Clarke, 128, Doncaster Road, Mexborough, and some of his Pioneer Corps pals who hail from Liverpool, Sunderland and Hinckley. Private Clarke has been in the Army 18 months, seven which have been spent in Egypt.

He was formerly a Sheffield steelworker. His eldest brother, Mr John Clarke, served with the Ack Ack in this country during the war.
