South Yorkshire Times March 19, 1949

Jack Snelgrove, 20 Tennyson Ave, Mexborough, South Yorkshire Musical Comedy Society producer, has had an exceedingly wide stage experience extending over 36 years in all types of production from musicals to straight plays. He has played and produced in four counties: Staffordshire, Lancashire, Cheshire and Yorkshire, in all the Masters: Gilbert and Sullivan Edward German, Lionel Monckton, Sigmund Romberg and so on.

He was a founder member and associate producer of Mexborough Green Room Club and associated with the old Mexborough Amateur Operatic Society, and has produced for Conisbrough St. Peter’s Operatic Society and Dinnington. Mr. Snelgrove, whose extensive technical knowledge is in great demand among other producers, is well known to Mexborough district audiences as a producer of shows in the grand style. During the war he founded and has been the only producer of the South Yorkshire Musical Comedy Society. “No, No Nanette,” “The Arcadians”, “Desert Song,” “Rose Marie,” “The Student Prince” and “Merrie England ‘—he has produced them all for this Society, and has scored equally with his annual pantomimes.

Snelgrove now confines his work for the theatre to producing, but  thousands in South Yorkshire recall his playing and singing is very considerable accomplishments.
