Family Affair

Two brothers and their cousin who are serving in different branches of the Forces are aircraftman Frank White (25), and is Signaller Wilfred White (19), elder and younger sons respectively of Mr and Mrs A White, of 112, Hirst Gate, Mexborough, and ordinary Seaman Jack Earnshaw, only son of Mr and Mrs W Earnshaw, of 110, Hirst Gate, Mexborough.

A/C White is a flight mechanic, and joined a squadron of the Auxiliary Air Force in May 1939, being called up for regular service the following August. He was previously employed on the clerical staff of the Amalgamated Denaby Collieries, He was born at Swinton, and attended Swinton Bridge and Mexboro’ Adwick Road Schools.

His brother, Wilfred, was in the Territorials before the war, and was called up during August, 1939. He is now serving with the York and Lancs. Regiment. He previously worked for Denaby and Cadeby Main Housing Department. A native of Swinton, Signaller White was educated at Doncaster Road Adwick Road Schools.

Ord. Seaman Earnshaw volunteered for the navy last June, and was called up later in the year. In civil life he was a shunter on the L.N.E. Railway at Mexborough. Jack hails from Mexborough. and went to the Doncaster Road School.
