Three Brothers Serving

Mr. and Mr. J. Lowe, 50a, Market Street, Mexborough, have three sons in the Forces.

Their eldest son, Sapper Ernest Lowe (38) (picture right) , is serving in this country with the Canadian Engineers. Sapper Lowe went to be a farmer in Canada from Wath Main Colliery 15 years ago. He has been in England for about a year during which time he has been on leave about three times and has expressed his joy at being back in the old country.”

Mr. and Mrs. Lowe are not sure as to the whereabouts of their second son, Driver John Kenneth Lowe (26) (picture left) of the R.A. Last Monday they received a letter from the War Office to say that he was missing. The day after they were informed that the German radio had broadcast the news that Driver Lowe was a prisoner of war in their hands. On Tuesday a further letter was received from the War Office saying that in spite of the German broadcast, no further news had been received from him.

Driver Lowe has been serving in the army about eight years, six of which have been spent in India.

The youngest brother, Pte. Kenneth Lowe (18) (picture below) Joined the Duke of Wellington’s Regiment two months ago, prior to which he was employed at the Mexborough Co-operative Bakery. He was educated at Dolcliffe Road School.
