Mexborough Widow’s Sacrifice

Two of the three sons of Mrs. Lang, 25, Creswell street, Mexboro’, have fallen in the war.

Mrs. Lang is a widow for a second time and her soldier sons were the children of her first husband.

Pte. James Dean (Y. and L.), (picture, centre) was killed in action on April 26. He was 31 and single, and had been serving over three years. Before enlistment he was employed as a miner at Cadeby.

Bdr. George Hy. Dean (R.F.A.) (picture, right) fell in action in September 1916. He enlisted at the outbreak of war, and was 23. Before enlistment he was a corporal at the Manvers Alain Colliery.

He married while serving.

Gnr_ John Thos.Dean (R.F.A.), (picture, left) has been serving in the Army nine years.

He was in India when war broke out, and for sixteen critical months served m the Ypres Salient. He has since  returned to India where he is now stationed. He is 28.
