Youthful Sailor

Jack Hayden (17) (picture left) eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Hayden of 31, Hirst Gate, Mexborough, joined the Navy in 1939. He is now on active service in a battle cruiser.

His father, an ex-Service man, served in the 6th Dragoon Guards from August 1914 to 1918, and he is now “doing ‘his bit” in the L.D.V.

Sergt. A. Prior (20), (picture right) a son-in-law of Mr. Hayden (senr.), joined up in August, 1937 and is now serving in the K.O.Y.L.L. Sergt.

Prior passed examinations as a qualified gymnastics instructor 18 months’ ago and has taken part in the Royal Tournament at Olympia.

He was in France for seven months and spent a month in Norway.
