Four Brothers Serving

Four brothers serving in H.M. Forces are Sapper William A. Dewsbury (33), Sergt. Wm, Dewsbury. Signalman Geo. Dewsbury (22) and Gunner John Henry Eyre (20), all sons of Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Eyre, of 26, New Street, Mexborough.

Sapper W. A. Dewsbury had seven years’ service with the Army in Africa and was called up again at the outbreak of war last year. He has also served in France and his parents have had no news of him for over eleven months.

Sergt William Dewsbury (Cook Sergeant) is serving with the Royal Corps of Signals and has also seven years’ service in the Army to his credit. He was called up at the beginning of the war and is somewhere in England.

Signalman George Dewsbury has seen three years’ service and is at present in India.

John Henry Eyre volunteered for the R.A., AA., in September. 1940 and is stationed in England.

All four sons were born in Mexborough, and William, George and John were employed by the YAP., Mexborough.
