Mexborough Widow’s Sacrifice

Two of the three sons of Mrs. Lang, 25, Creswell St, Mexborough have fallen in the war.

Mrs. Lang is a widow for a second time and her soldier sons were the children of her first husband.

Private. James Dean (Y. and L.), (picture, centre) was killed in action on April 26. He was 31 and single, and had been serving over three years.

Before enlistment he was employed as a miner at Cadeby.

Bdr. George Fly. Dean (R.F.A.) (picture, right) fell in action in September 1916. He enlisted at the outbreak of war, and before enlistment he was a Corporal at the Manvers Main Colliery. He married while serving.

Gunner John Thomas Dean (picture, left) has been serving in the Army nine years.      He was in India when war broke out, and for sixteen critical months he served in the Ypres Salient. He has since returned to India where he is now stationed. He is 28.
