July 1944

South Yorkshire Times, July 1st 1944

WHITHAM (CLEMITSHAW)

In loving memory of Wilfred, beloved son of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Clemitshaw of 206, Queen Street, Mexborough. Killed on active service in France, June 9th, 1944.

Far from his home and loved ones
Somewhere across the sea
Without farewell he fell asleep
With only memories for us to keep
He didn’t shun his country’s call
He gave his life – his all
He died the helpless to defend
A British Soldier’s noble end

From Mother and Dad, brothers and sisters
