Mrs Straw of 60 Albert Rd, Mexborough has received official news that her husband private Gordon Ernest Straw, was killed on November 7 by a sniper.

He was the eldest son of Mr and Mrs Ernest Straw, of Albert Road.

He was formerly in the service of the White Star Shipping Company. He joined the colours in May 1918.

Two brothers are serving. Private Harold Straw, who has been twice wounded and is now in hospital in Aberdeen, and Private Gerald Straw, who is in India.

Private G.E.Straw leaves a widow and one son.
