Fred Stafford – Died In Action.

News that 2nd-Lieut. Fred Stafford (22), a grandson of the late Mr. Walter Taylor, a well known Mexborough cabinet maker, has died in action was recently received by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. F, Stafford, 18, Lee Bridge, Halifax

2nd-Lieut. Stafford was born at Mexborough, leaving with his parents at the age of 10. He was a special reservist in the York and Lancs. Regiment, and saw service in France and Norway in the ranks, being commissioned in 1943

At the time of his death he was serving with the East Yorks. Regiment.
