An Early “Casualty”

Private A. Rowntree, second son of Mr. and Mrs. Rowntree, 36, Main Street, Mexborough, is a war “casualty” of a different nature. He is home on six weeks’ sick leave, due to an accident while playing football with his unit, in which he sustained a fracture of the ankle bone. His injury, which provided him with enforced Christmas leave, is progressing favourably, and Albert expresses great hopes of soon being able to re-join his unit.

Private Rowntree, who for the past six years has been a member of the printing staff of this newspaper, was called up under the Military Training Act. He was a popular figure in local junior football circles, having played with several local teams, and until his accident entered into all the sporting activities of his unit. He says he is very happy and comfortable in his new surroundings. We wish him a speedy recovery.
