Widow Receives Decoration
The Military Medal was posthumously awarded Lance Corporal Albert Victor Hudson Robinson (R.E.), of West Rd., Mexborough, who died of wounds, for gallantry displayed on April 24, 1917, and was presented in Sheffield last week to Mrs. Robinson, by Lt.-General Sir John Maxwell, Officer Commanding – in – Northern Command.
The late Lance Corporal Robinson’s mother was also present. The award is cited for “conspicuously good work in laying and maintaining telephone wires. Although wounded while, looking for a broken wire, he continued and made good the line.”
The incident took place during an attack on an enemy position.
A certificate accompanies the ‘Medal.
Lance-Corpl. Robinson was well-known in Mexborough, and was for some time connected with the skating rink.
