Out East

William Poynton, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. Poynton, 52, Addison Road, Mexborough, joined the Army last November. He worked formerly at Mexborough Co-operative Bakeries, Ltd.

He has been out East since Christmas. He was one of 30 R.A.M.C. men picked out for overseas service last December. He is now sergeants’ cook.

It is several weeks since his parents had a letter from him. He celebrated his 21st birthday out there and thanks everybody for presents he received.

He has received the “South Yorkshire Times” every week and is glad to get all the local news. He passes the paper on to his friends when he has read it.
