Private Walter Oldfield (York and Lancaster) 173, Wath Rd, Mexborough has been awarded the Military Medal.

He is a married man with one child and enlisted in September 1914, going to France in October 1950. Your servant there ever since.

Before enlistment he was a miner, employed at Denaby Main.

His three brothers, Company Sergeant Major George Oldfield (York and Lancaster), Corporal William Oldfield (York and Lancaster) and Private John Oldfield, are also serving in France.
