Private A. H. Morris (28), eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. M. Morris, of 39, Dolcliffe Road, Mexborough, had been in the Army before the war, but when it was declared he re-joined.
Morris attended Dolcliffe Road School and before joining up worked at Manvers Main Colliery.
His home address is 55, Schofield Street, Mexborough, and he belongs to a family which has an Army tradition.
Private Morris was fighting at Arras in France when it was captured, and was later evacuated to England.
