Soldier – Moore, Stanley – Prisoner in Italy

September 1942

South Yorkshire Times – Saturday 05 September 1942

Prisoner in Italy.

After three months silence, heartening news was received last week-end concerning the well-being of Guardsman Stanley Moore, whose home is at 70, Chaucer Road, Mexborough.

His wife, Mrs. Rose Moore, who had not received any word from her husband for a very long time, received official notification early in July that he was “missing” in the Middle East. Since that time she has received no further communication either from the authorities or from her husband, but last week-end Mr. A. Moore, Woodman, Swinton, her husband’s brother, received a postcard from Stanley, written from a prison camp in Italy, in which he stated that he was safe and well.

Before joining the Coldstream Guards in June 1940, Guardsman Moore was a member of the staff of the Machine Department of the “South Yorkshire Times” Printing Co., Ltd.
