Prisoner of War
Anxiety felt by Mrs. A. Meek, of 27, Lorna Road, Mexborough, for the safety of her son, from whom she last heard on May 24th, when he was serving in France, was partly relieved on Saturday when she was informed that her son, Gunner Douglas Meek (21), is a prisoner of war.
Meek has been in the Army since last November and went to France in March.
Before being called up he was a fireman on the L.N.E.R. He is a native of Mexborough and attended Adwick Road School. He was formerly a member of the choir at St. George’s Church and of the Mexborough Gleemen’s Choir.
Mrs. Meek has another son, Norman, aged 22, in the Army.
