Mexborough & Swinton Times – Saturday 08 March 1941

Corpl. Joseph Walter Mawbey (19), son of Mr. and Mrs. G. Mawbey of 3, Eden Terrace Mexborough, is serving with the York and Lancs. Regiment somewhere in England.

He was a Territorial and joined up at the beginning of the war. Corpl Mawbey went to France soon after joining the Army and took part in the evacuation from Dunkirk.

He was educated at Dolcliffe Road School and worked in Messrs. Venables’ printing office before the war. He is a keen footballer.
