Mexborough’s Civil Defence Services lose a popular member this week in Mr Fred

Machin, of 23, Queen’s Terrace, Mexborough, son of Mr F Machin, of 114 Meadow view, Kilnhurst, who is leaving his position at the Report Centre joined the Royal Army Ordnance Corps.

Mr Mason has been officer in charge at the centre for two years, under the Report Officer, Mr T Flather.

He was assistant surveyor at Barnburgh Main colliery previously. Mr Machin was also secretary of the Civil Defence Services Games League.
