Private Bernard Jowett
(York & Lancs)
of 31 York Street, Mexborough, was killed on July 1st by shrapnel which struck him in the neck.
He was 20 years of age last November, and enlisted in Novwember 1914, prior to which he assisted his father Mr J.W. Jowett, in business in the Arcade, Mexborough.
He had previously been invalided home.
He was the only child of Mr and Mrs Jowett, to whom many expressions of sympathy have been sent.
