In D-DAY Landings
Mrs. M. Higgins, of 8, Argyle Street, Mexborough, had a pleasant surprise last weekend when their elder son, Leading Wireman Martin Higgins 20, came home on a short leave.
Leading Wireman Higgins was on an invasion craft which landed on the Normandy beaches before 8:00 am on D day.
He was slightly injured by a piece of steel which entered his shoulder when a shell exploded.
