Private Hartley of 50 Albert Rd, Mexborough, is in hospital in France with gunshot wounds in his left knee, received in action in France on March 30.

He is 36, and the third son of the late Mr George Hartley and Mrs Hartley.

Before enlistment in April 1917 he was working in a munitions factory in Glasgow
