Signalman Albert T. Gough (24), younger son of Coun. H. and Mrs. Gough, of 14, Harlington Road, Mexborough, has returned home after nearly four and a half years abroad, for most of that time in Malta.

He took part in the laying of a submarine cable and was mentioned in dispatches. From Malta he was also in landings on Sicily and Pantelleria, while as a result of the bombing and privations through three years on the island, Signalman Gough lost 2½ stones in weight.

Formerly a train recorder on the, L.N.E.R., at Mexborough, Signalman Gough volunteered for long service, serving in France for three months and going to Egypt and later to Malta in September, 1940.

Signalman Gough’s brother, Craftsman Leslie Gough (26) R.E.M.E. has served 2½ years in this country.  He was formerly a welder employed at Manchester.
