Private Harold Gill, youngest son of Mr and Mrs John Gail, for Woodfield Avenue, Mexborough, is officially reported missing since April 15.
He is a Lewis – Gunner, and has been taking part in some of the heaviest of the recent fighting. He had only been in France a few weeks, and had been serving a little over a year. He is 20 years of age, and before enlistment was employed at the Manvers Main Colliery.
He was a member of the Parish Church choir of which his father has been a leading member for over 50 years.
Three of his brothers are serving, one in France, and two at present in England after a long and severe service on the Western Front.
