Mexborough and Swinton Times, March 22,1916
Private A Geary (6th Yorkshire Regiment) of 70a Victopria Road, Mexborough, and formerly of Queen Street, Swinton, has been in hospital with blood poisoning, arising from frost bite.
He is 21 years of age, and has been at the front 8 months. He is now in Egypt, and writing to his mother to thank her for a copy of the “Mexborough & Swinton Times” adds:
“I am always pleased to have news of the old place, for we do not get much home news except in letters.”
He says that he is as fit as a fiddle, but would like a short fgurlough at home before going into the firing line again.
