Prisoner Of War

Mr. and Mrs. E. Evans, 2, Highfield Cottages, Main Street, Mexborough, received news on Friday that their son, Driver Ernest Hardy Evans, of the R.A.S.C., was a prisoner of war In Italy.

Driver Evans, who is 27, was reported missing June.

His parents received a letter last Friday from the Apostolic Delegation in London saying that the following message had been broadcast on the Vatican radio: “Am fit and well. Don’t worry. Tell auntie. Chins up and keep smiling. Love from Ernest.”

Since then a postcard has been received from Driver Evans saying that he is in good health.
