Driver Albert Dickinson

46 Pym Rd, has been killed in action. The news was conveyed to his mother by his company officer in the following letter:

“It is with very deeply regret that I have to tell you that your son has been killed in action. I know it will bring some consolation to you to know that he died instantly. He was a very valuable man. The battery join with me in sending our deepest sympathy at the loss of a very dear comrade.”

Driver Dickinson was special reservist, and was called up on mobilisation.

He had been in France nearly 3 years without mishap. He was 22 years of age, and prior to the war worked at Barnburgh colliery.
