Rifleman Clement Randolph Cockroft
(K.R.R.),

formerly of Woodfield Ave, Mexborough is reported missing.

His wife, at present residing in Halifax, has received a letter from her husband’s platoon, commander stating that Rifleman Cockroft was missed after a heavy bombardment on 17 February, and that there is a possibility that he was taken prisoner.

Rifleman Cockroft was a university trained teacher, and took a B.A.. He was on the staff of the National School, Mexborough, and a tenor singer in the Mexborough Parish Church Choir.
He enlisted in February 1916, and went to France in May. He is 32 years of age, and came to Mexborough from Halifax about three years ago.
