Corporal Eli Clothier

Corporal Clothier, son of Mr. and Mrs Mark Clothier, 9, Wood street, Mexborough, was killed in action in France on July 17.

He had been serving since 1914, and in France since 1915.. He had seen a great deal of active service, and had once been gassed.

He was aged the youngest of five soldier brothers, all of whom have served in France.

Two are still there, one was killed last March and another has been discharged after being wounded four times.
