Officers Tribute

Private Harold Carr
Bedfordshire Regiment

Private Carr, formerly of Mexborough, was killed in action in France in August 8.

His brother, Mr Aaron Carr, formerly of Mexborough now resident in the Huddersfield district, has received the following message of sympathy from second Lt S.B. Linde’s:

“As Private H Carr’s platoon commander, accept my deepest sympathy in the sad loss of your brother, who was an excellent soldier, never failing in his duty, and was a great loss to this battalion.

Although he had only been with us a short time, he soon made himself at home with his comrades, were all sorry to have lost him.

He was killed instantaneously, and was buried practically on the spot where he fell.

My company commander wishes me to convey sincere condolences with you and other relatives.”

Private Carr went to France last May.
