We received a letter recently from Rifleman L. Brookes who is serving in the Middle East.

Rifleman Brookes whose parents live in Windhill Terrace, Mexborough, left Mexborough In 1935 to serve with the Army overseas. He has served In India and Burma and under General Wavell.

Rifleman Brookes said he was fortunate enough to get hold of a copy of the May 23rd issue of the “South Yorkshire Times” and while that was in. his possession he met a group of lads from Mexborough serving in the A.A. section of the A.A. and they chatted and discussed local news together
