Private G Birch, of 3 Mills Court, High Street, suffered an amputation of the right leg and a fracture of the left arm in consequence of wounds received on July 14.

He is now in hospital in Manchester.

He was invalided home from the Dardanelles last Christmas with dysentery.

He is married and has three children
