A native of Mexborough who joined up from Leeds is Lance-Corporal G. E Beel, whose mother was, before her marriage, Miss K. Hillerby, of Mexborough.

Mr. Beel senr. was the first general secretary of the Mexborough Athletic Club.

L/Corporal Beel joined up last December and was previously an accountant in Leeds. He gets the “Times” every week and says he looks forward to it with interest.
