In Lofoten Raid

One of the heroes of the raid on the Lofoten Islands is Able Seaman George Beech (21) youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Beech, of 10, Cross Gate, Mexborough, who was home on leave recently. Seaman Beech was on one of the warships covering the landing. He has been in the Navy a year.

A native of Mexborough, he was educated at Adwick Road School, and, before joining the Navy. he was employed by Mexborough Council.
