Private Tom Barron, eldest son of Mr,. and Mrs Parkin Barron, 36, Main St, Mexborough, was killed in action in France on September 24.

His parents have received, together with the official notification, messages of sympathy from the King and Queen, and from the War Office.

He was 18 years of age and was formerly  employed at the Phoenix Glass Bottle Works, Mexborough
