Another “Mexborough Times” Man in France

Private Clement Allen (West Riding Regiment) who enlisted last October, has gone to France.

Private Allen, who is a married man, was formally employed in the stereo typing department of the “Mexborough Times.”

He took very kindly to Army life, and trained quickly and well.

Private Allen writes:

“There are a good many Mexborough and Kilnhurst lads out here. I received one of our “Mexborough Times” this morning, for January 6. It was a bit old, but it was surprisingly how many of these chaps had a look through it.

We are not very far from the firing line, and can hear the guns plainly.”
